Camping is a great way to get back to nature and about 45 million Americans went camping last year. How much better can it get than beautiful mountains, clear streams and blue sky with plenty of fresh air. Of course it has its challenges; plenty of bugs, hard sleeping surfaces, complicated tent poles, fire starting challenges just to mention a few.

There are also a few dangers that can ruin the best laid camping plans in a hurry. One common mistake campers make is not being ready for seasonal changes. Storms blow in and all of a sudden the temperatures drop. Excessive heat can also be a problem, especially for younger children. Be prepared for heat related illness, bug bites, stings, cuts, bruises and Poison Ivy/Oak with a good First Aid Kit. A Personal Survival Kit or a Survival Kit for Children are also good items to have around.
