All items are packed in our large, heavy duty Tactical Backpack. This backpack has a large clam-shell main compartment, an internal zippered pocket, six external zippered pockets, padded shoulder straps, waist and sternum straps, two adjustable compression straps on each side, carry handle straps on the top and both sides, and PAL compatible webbing located on both the front and bottom. This kit is designed to meet the demands for all-purpose survival practices. The Select Survival Kit follows the guidelines of governmental agencies, including the FEMA and Red Cross requirements for three persons/three days.
This kit includes the following items:
Food and Water: The food and water in this kit will provide the nutrition necessary to survive for up to three days. The food in this kit has a shelf life of 5 years. To add additional survival days to the kit, refer to the Food and Water Section of this website to purchase supplementary food and drinking water. The essential nutritional intake of 1,200 calories and one gallon of drinking water per day/per person is recommended.
27 – 400 Calorie Food Bars (a great shortbread cookie flavor, a 5-year shelf life and approved by U.S. Coast Guard)
12 – 4 Ounce Water Pouches (4.25 fluid oz. of filtered water, 5-year shelf life and approved by U.S. Coast Guard)
40 – EPA Registered Water Purification Tablets (each tablet purifies 1 liter of water)
Shelter and Warmth: The extreme conditions of winter and summer can produce inhospitable and unforgiving environments. These items will help provide protection against harsh temperatures, rain and snow.
1 – Box of Waterproof Matches (matches that work when wet)
3 – Emergency Survival Blanket (retains 90% of body heat in cold conditions, also protects against rain and wind)
3 – Emergency Poncho with Hood (one size fits all, protection against the rain and wind)
2 – Emergency Tube Tent (provides shelter for up to two people)
3 – Body Warmers (heats up to 150 degrees for many hours)
Light and Communication: If stranded away from home or caught in a situation without power, these items will prove extremely useful. The ability to see and communicate are two of the most basic factors needed in an emergency or disaster.
1 – LED Rechargeable Flashlight (never needs batteries, just squeezing the handle generates power)
1 – 5-in-1 Survival Whistle (the whistle has a compass, signal mirror, flint starter and a waterproof container with a lanyard. The whistle sound travels over a mile)
3 – 12 Hour Bright Stick (small and lightweight emergency lighting)
1 – Emergency Dynamo Solar Powered Lantern with Radio (LED lantern never needs batteries, can also be
charged by using the 6V external adapter and has a DC port for charging cell phones)
Medical and First Aid: A good first aid kit is one of the most critical components of any survival kit. Unfortunately, most survival kit suppliers overlook this and provide little more than gauze and a few band aids. Please pay close attention to the first aid contents of any survival kit and compare them to our kits; you’ll be surprised at the difference.

1 – Adventure Medical First Family Kit: While most family kits are designed to be kid-friendly, it is important not to forget the people who will be caring for their little ones in the outdoors, from picnics at the park to hikes in the wilderness. The centerpiece of the Adventure First Aid Family Kit is the fully-updated new edition of Caring for Children in the Outdoors, a comprehensive guide to first-aid for children, covering topics such as how to treat sprains, fractures, and dislocations, plus handy guides on how to administer medications and how to dress more serious wounds. A wide range of first aid supplies provides piece of mind for the whole family, and as an added bonus, the kit includes a handy kit-within-a-kit that can be pulled out and stashed in a pocket or diaper bag.
